The Yorkshire Leadership Programme
Yorkshire Leadership
The Yorkshire Leadership Programme was developed in 2003 in order to create a programme for the leaders of the future in our region.

From small beginnings - a one-day programme with twenty people from a variety of organisations and businesses in August 2003 – we have now developed a well respected programme which brings some of the great leadership thinkers of the world to work with the people of Yorkshire.

So why Leadership, why Yorkshire?

It is clear that the old approaches to Leadership are redundant in the fast-changing world in which we live and do business
A key focus was what kind of Leadership is needed to create new levels of success and prosperity for the people of Yorkshire in future? It is clear that the old approaches to Leadership are redundant in the fast-changing world in which we live and do business. It is also clear that the new approaches we need to take mean making connections in a way we have never had to before. These connections lead us to an integrated, holistic approach both to what we do as individual leaders and the way we need to operate as organisations to develop the skills needed for our future success in the region. Current approaches to Leadership have taken us only so far and a new synthesis of thought and practical approaches is needed.

The Leadership we need for success now and in the future is Leadership that is about developing people, developing communities and first above all, developing ourselves as individuals. Effective Leadership is about you and I making a positive difference.

Bringing People Together

One of the key values of the Yorkshire Leadership Programme is that it should not be a series of glossy £1,000 per day events aimed only at the elite, because we don’t believe that is the kind of leadership that will bring success to our region and the country. Places are therefore priced at very reasonable rates and any surplus produced is re-invested to take the agenda forward.
