In partnership with Shenyang University we are running a series of free seminars which will offer an insight into the Chinese market and potential investment opportunities and develop an understanding of Chinese business culture and language. Our first event will be held on the 17th November 6 – 8pm at Gaskells Conference Centre, Wakefield. The event is free of charge to local companies, and includes the opportunity to win a London Theatre break and souvenirs from China. Wakefield College, Shenyang University, and One World Travel are organising a series of China themed seminars and events starting from November 2008 to April 2009. After a resounding performance in a successful Olympic games we hope that this co-operation will be just as much of a triumphant achievement for the Wakefield business community. The joint initiative aims to provide an insight into the Chinese market and potential investment opportunities and to support the development of an understanding of Chinese business culture and language. Our first event will be held on the 17th of November at Gaskells Conference Centre, Wakefield College. The first session will offer a taster for businesses that are either already operating in China or want to gain knowledge about the potential Chinese market. It will help aspiring companies to identify the advantages and potential risks of building a business in China. Each session will include key note speakers who will share their expertise and knowledge in relation to China as a business market or destination for tourism. It is intended that the partnership will become a forum for the generation of potential sales leads and new investment and trade opportunities in China. The event is free of charge and places are limited and will be on a first come first served basis. The keynote speakers at the first event will be Jo Lavan, Managing Director of Connect China, a consultancy firm specialising in providing market information for local firms to build business with China, and the general manager of HSBC bank who will speak on business relations between China and the UK. The evening will begin with registration at 6.00pm, welcome and introduction, followed by our keynote speakers. A prize of a London Theatre break has been donated by One World Travel and this will be drawn out after a Chinese Buffet and networking reception. The event will be finish at about 8pm.
