Services to Business welcomed members of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to its Thornes Park Campus, where they took part in some bespoke training. The group of 25 Cricket Development Managers represented many of the country’s top county cricket clubs, including Yorkshire, Durham, Cumberland, Northumberland and Lancashire. The development managers are responsible for increasing participation, club membership, securing funding and promoting the game at grass-roots level. Amongst the delegates was ex England International Jim Love. Jim now is part of ‘Chance to Shine’ a cricket foundation organisation which promotes cricket in schools. The day-long training session entitled ‘Managing your own game – a personal stock take’, gave the participants the chance to undergo a training needs analysis done by the College’s expert coaching staff. Through the use of innovative and inspirational creative thinking methods, participants came away with a long term training plan for their own personal development which will hopefully have an impact on the future of cricket in the north of England.
