Answering Your Questions
Will the course affect my benefits?
No, the programme has nothing to do with benefits- it has been set up to give you some more skills.

Do I have to be a certain age?
Yes, you have to be aged 19 and over. If you are under 19, then ask us about Steps to Employment, a different scheme that gives you skills.

How long do I have to have been unemployed?
You have to be unemployed and claiming JSA for more than 6 months or have been fast tracked to this status. If you have been unemployed for less time than this, ask us about Steps to Employment, a different scheme that can give you skills.

Do the college pay any travel costs?
Yes, the college we reimburse travelling expenses up to £5 per day for public transport (tickets must be retained).

What is in the programme?
We have specific timetables for you to follow (please see above).

I never enjoyed school- is it like going back?
Not at all. Colleges have changed significantly, with programmes now focused on improving you as a person. We help to establish what level you are at and then build in help to give you the skills you need.
